10 June 2014

Equipo DRT’s “Up” recycled polyester fabrics have been included in the “Delta 2014” selection after been named finalist for the prestigious Delta Awards, given by the Industrial Design Association ADI-FAD (Barcelona, Spain). The aim of these awards, now in their 37th edition, is promoting public acknowledgement of products that stand out because of their innovation, their conceptual renovation, their capacity to adapt to the environment and the social response that they generate, as well as their design and manufacturing quality.

“Up”, an upcycled fabric developed as a step forward in Equipo DRT´s commitment to sustainability and textile design, will be included in the new catalogue of the Delta Awards, whose winner will be announced this month, and will be exhibited in the “FADexpo, the best designs of the year”, organized by the FAD. The exhibition will open on June 25th at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, where it will remain for four months.

Equipo DRT´s upcycled textiles, introduced this year in Maison Objet Paris, “go a step forward in our commitment to life, to the environment and to the building of a better future for everyone, with the idea of transforming the immediate surroundings into warm, friendly, inviting and sustainable spaces”, says the firm when defining this product developed from threads of recycled polyester fabrics.

“For Equipo DRT, the development of ´Up´ has been a challenge. It´s the result of more than a year of intense research conducted in our weaving workshops to create a recycled and fire resistant curtain fabric”, explains Arantxa Porter, head of Equipo DRT´s marketing department. The firm has been developing textiles that talk, listen, decorate and inspire for more than twenty years. From now on, Equipo DRT´s textiles “will also feel and make people feel, because we believe that sustainability and sensibility have to go hand in hand with a passion for art, textiles, habitat and decoration”, stresses Porter.

“Up” landed on the market last January with two textile innovations: “Up-Loop” and “Up-Twist”, offered in up to ten colours, with the aim of “making public spaces and residential areas more sensible and environmentally conscious and creating a sense of sustainable and harmonious luxury”.
