Wallpaper is a wonderful decorative option in interior design to either fully or partially cover the walls of a room.

It is a historical resource that originated in Asia and came to Europe through trade between the two areas in the seventeenth century.

Since then, and especially after the Industrial Revolution, which made it cheaper to manufacture thanks to the mechanization of the process, wallpaper has been present in very different trends and decorative styles, from the simple, floral motifs of the early 20th century to the geometric drawings of the 1930s, to the striking colors and designs from the 1960s and 1970s.

Currently, wallpaper is perhaps a latent trend, but all the options mentioned above are valid and in use: colors, flowers, still lifes, landscapes, figures, animals, retro aesthetics...you just need to find the ideal wall to wallpaper and choose which motif to use for it.

The wall behind the head of the bed is usually the one chosen for wallpapering, thus converting the wallpaper into a substitute for the headboard while adding a touch of class to the room.

In many cases, this is done in a daring, brave, bold way, more so than in the rest of the rooms of the house. Contrary to curtains, where the trend is to seek calm and restfulness, with wallpaper, the trends are moving towards more daring touches, with options that can vary from a design with palm trees to black damask.

The word “modern” refers to the opposite of the remote past and all things classic and established. This definition of the word modern also applies to wallpaper, where we can find a wide range of novel, innovative, and groundbreaking products in terms of background (drawing) and form (color).

NORDIC STYLE WALLPAPER

Nordic style wallpaper is soft, relaxed, and warm, with light and plain tones. It makes it easy to create environments where calm and relaxation should be the predominant notes.

We find this sensation in country houses and also in homes whose design is welcoming, serving as home to us in the most soulful sense of the term. It is curious that we associate Nordic style, which originated in such a cold region, with a feeling of warmth, but therein lies the importance and the essence of good design and appropriate decorative elements.

DECORATIVE WALLPAPER

If there one wonderful thing about wallpaper, beyond the design itself, it is the variety of places in which we can use it to increase the beauty and features of a room.

We can thus decorate an entryway or a kitchen wall; we can create a headboard wall in the bedroom or decorate the interior of a closet. In fact, decorative wallpaper can also be used to create a mural in any room in the house. It could also be used to pep up a hotel room.

That being said, when using wallpaper, we must make sure that the wall does not have a “popcorn” finish or any other rough texture, since that would not only make it difficult to put up, but it would also completely alter and distort the image and the final result.
